Finder's size is not what comes back.
Sizes overstate what a cleanup frees. On a sample Mac, here is the size Finder shows beside the space each item would give back once it is in the Trash and you empty it.
A copy made on the same disk is a clone: it shares every block with the original. Finder counts it twice. Trash it, and nothing comes back.
When you edit a file, Time Machine's local snapshot keeps yesterday's blocks. Trash today's version and the old blocks stay until the snapshot expires.
A hard link gives one file a second name in another folder. Trash one name and the file is still there under the other.
Caches a tool makes again come back almost whole. These are what DiskKind suggests first, with the tool's own reason.
