Why can't DiskKind read every folder?
macOS protects some locations. Full Disk Access can improve coverage, but it does not guarantee that every path is readable. DiskKind reports what stayed unreadable instead of counting it as empty.
Why can file contents exceed drive capacity?
Logical file size can exceed physical disk space because compression, sparse ranges and APFS clone sharing change how content occupies blocks. DiskKind keeps those measurements separate.
Why hasn't free space changed after moving to the Trash?
Moving an item to the Trash keeps a recovery window. Space usually returns only after you empty the Trash yourself.
Is a large developer folder safe to remove?
Not automatically. Folders such as .colima can mix downloadable images with irreplaceable volumes and databases. Check the tool that made it and stop it before deciding.
